Detroit has been preparing for the funeral of the iconic singer, who died of pancreatic cancer on 16 August at the age of 76. She called the Motor City home for most of her life.

The funeral comes after a two-day public viewing at Detroit's Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

While the ceremony Friday is technically private, the details have been made public and the service will be broadcast for the world to see. 

Jennifer Hudson will sing "Amazing Grace" at Aretha Franklin's funeral. While Faith Hill will sing "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", Ariana Grande will perform "Natural Woman", and Stevie Wonder will do a rendition of  "The Lord's Prayer" and his hit "As". 

Speakers include former presidents to professional athletes to the biggest names in the recording industry, several luminaries, family members and close friends are delivering remarks and sharing personal reflections.
