While shops are filling up with celebrity cookbooks in the run-up to Christmas, one of the latest offerings has bypassed today’s high-profile stars - in favour of dead ones.

The Dead Celebrity Cookbook features kitchen tips and hints from 150 late stars, including the recently-deceased Elizabeth Taylor. Her signature dish was apparently chicken with avocado.

Farrah Fawcett’s would often boast of her special version of sausage and peppers, and this also features in the cookbook, as does British funnyman Dudley Moore’s creme brulee and Frank Sinatra’s barbecued lamb.

Unlike the recipes of Nigella Lawson and the current crop of celebrity chefs, some of the recipes are very simple - including Dean Martin’s no-nonsense instructions for “Burgers and Bourbon”.

According to the legendary tippler, you should sprinkle salt on to a skillet, put on four burgers and fry them for four minutes each side -before serving with a shot of bourbon on the side.

The collection, which was put together using out-of-print cookbooks, biographies and vintage magazines, is available from Amazon. - Daily Mail
