South African actor Khulu Skenjana has revealed that he would like to be cast as an African superhero.

Speaking to ThisaLIVE, 'The Imposter' star commended Marvel's decision to tell the story of African superhero Black Panther, but added that Africa needed heroes of its own to look up to.

"I still want to be a superhero. Let's make Batman black," he quipped.

Khulu also revealed that he studied ancient African tradition to question the impact colonisation had on the way Africans think.

Khulu explained that there are a number of African hero stories that have not been written, and that it needs to be shared.

"... there are number of African hero and superhero stories that have not been written. It is time for that. We need to start telling our own stories," he said.

He believes that these stories could inspire Africans to change the way they think about themselves and the world.

Khulu has been cast in number of diverse roles over the years, the most recent being a slightly mentally unstable prison teacher in Mzansi Magic's new drama series 'The Imposter'.
