BOITY Thulo retweeted a picture of herself naked on Monday – causing a stir on Twitter.

The actress and TV presenter has only a white towel wrapped around her head and stands facing away from the camera, with her buttocks in full view.

She posed for the picture for Marie Claire magazine’s annual Naked Issue, which was released on Monday.

Radio DJs Catherine Grenfell and Zama Dube are alongside her in the picture.

The picture trended within minutes.

Thulo, along with other celebrities, such as Lee-Ann Liebenberg and Marc Lottering, took part in this year’s issue in support of The Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing orphaned or disadvantaged schoolchildren in disadvantaged areas with a daily meal.

The frequent tweeter stayed mum about the reactions to her derriere, but her mother went on to the social network to show her daughter support.

Modiehi Thulo ([email protected]) tweeted:

“Werk (sic) it girl, if it means going nude for charity, do it. You have my support! I love you.”

She retweeted the picture, stating: “My girl be looking fab! Way to go”.

Thulo is known for being fitness-conscious and recently became the face of the sports nutrition brand, USN.

The 23-year-old often uploads pictures of her abs and her figure and gives out exercise advice to her followers.

While some slated what they called an “attention-seeking stunt”, many came out in her defence.

Poet, presenter and activist Lebo Mashile (@lebomashile) tweeted:

“It’s your bum. It’s your body. Do what you want with it. Isn’t that the whole point of the naked issue anyway? Freedom? #Boity #NakedIssue.”

Singer-songwriter Simphiwe Dana (@simphiwedana) said: “Nudity doesn’t have to be about objectified bodies. It can be an art form. Boity’s is an example. Beauty.”
