Taboo night club in Sandton was the rendezvous for music lovers as the king of house music, DJ Black Coffee, was given an epic send-off on Thursday night ahead of his tour to Ibiza, one of the Balearic islands in the Mediterranean.

He joined forces with the leading deodorant and fragrance brand Axe.

DJ Black Coffee and Axe ran a competition to find a local DJ to spin some decks with him on the party island.

YFM’s DJ and music producer Kutloano Nhlapo, known as Da Kruk, won and will be performing alongside the house music maestro.

Da Kruk hosts The Players Club on YFM every Saturday and The Sunday Social on Sundays.

The DJ hopefuls needed to submit a demo track on axecess.com and share “how they found their magic”.

Da Kruk was one of the hand-picked five finalists and participated in Thursday night’s send-off.

AXE has proudly celebrated local and international hip-hop with two successful Axecess

Jozi events, featuring the best local hip-hop acts, as well as hosting international rappers in South Africa.

This year they’re upping the stakes - Axe is not bringing international artists to South Africa, they’re taking Africa’s top up-and-coming artists to the world with Axecess Ibiza.

A’s favourite personalities came in their numbers and the night was hosted by Maps Maponyane and actress and radio DJ Thando Thabethe. The night kicked off with a head-to-head battle of the five DJ finalists.

The likes of Da Les and many others enjoyed the comfort and leisure of the club’s VIP area.

The night ended with a set from the main man himself,

DJ Black Coffee. He, together with Da Kruk, head off to Ibiza with other African winners to perform at a historical all-Africa event this month.
