When Bboy Meaty won the coveted Red Bull BC One South Africa Cypher last year, it was clear that he would be willing to do anything to defend his title this year. And he did just that.

Hailing from Eersterivier in Cape Town, the dancer — whose real name is Dimitri Nell — competed against 15 great talents from across the nation. But he still came out tops. This year, the competition that is a flagship event for the energy drink took place at the Cape Town Stadium.

The judges were breakdancing ambassador, Vouks, as well as multiple BC One winner, B-Boy Benny and Red Bull BC All Star b-boy, Hong 10, who is from South Korea.

Now, Meaty is getting ready to go and represent Mzansi at theRed Bull BC One World Final in Zurich in November.

About this feat, Meaty said: “Winning the competition twice, back to back, is a big achievement – I’ve lost more than I’ve won but it helped me grow into the competitor I am today. To win something like this is a privilege and an honour, it’s given me more confidence but I’m still humble.”
