Legendary radio and television presenter, Alex Jay, will be joining Jacaranda FM, the home of more music you love, from February 3.

Jay will be stepping in to present Weekend Breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 6am to 10am and he’ll also be joining Sacha Van Gelder on Jacaranda FM Regional, broadcasting to Mpumalanga and Limpopo – Mondays to Fridays from 12pm to 4pm.

Jacaranda FM’s GM, Kevin Fine, says: “Welcoming a presenter of Alex’ caliber is a great privilege for us. He has a strong rapport with audiences and really appeals to all South Africans.  His love for radio and music echoes the station’s brand sentiment, and he will be a huge asset to our weekend and regional product.”

Jay, who is also a DJ, musician, MC and voice artist - brings more than 36 years of experience to the airwaves and he is excited about the new chapter: “I love new challenges. The move to Jacaranda FM is a fresh start, brings great potential and, of course, I get to connect with a massive group of listeners who I might’ve not had the privilege of talking to before. Dis fantasties!”

Liesl Laurie is ready to dance with stars

On what audiences can expect from his shows, he says: “Fun and games, a great vibe, plus, most importantly, more of the high school hits you love. So litte los, hair down and let’s do it!”

Other big news on the Jacaranda FM front is that former Miss South Africa, Liesl Laurie, will now be hosting Breakfast Xtra between 5am and 6am, weekdays.

Laurie will also be putting her best foot forward to compete against 11 other celebrities in Dancing with the Stars SA, airing on M-Net channel 101 from February 4.
