If there's one thing we've learned about being popular on social media: it's that you have to be prepared to accept the criticism that comes with it, especially from the keyboard warriors with zero chill.

And YouTube star Lasizwe knows this all too well. He recently got dragged on Twitter streets after US star Jay Versace accused him of copying his concepts.

But this wasn't his first rodeo in the 'you stole my concept arena'. Lasizwe was previously slammed for allegedly copying one of former model and actor Earl Hendricks' videos.

Speaking to TshisaLive, the 20-year-old social media star, who's also the younger brother of TV personality Khanyi Mbau, said the bad publicity stems from "misunderstanding".

Lasizwe explained that he curates and draws inspiration from other people, but does endeavour to copy their ideas.

"I take inspiration from a lot of people and every day life. I use my interactions with them as a way to vlog and entertain. In doing my videos, my aim is to entertain and not step on anyone’s toes and hope this will come across in my videos," he said.

Adding that he acknowledges that he does have some international viewers, but "will always remain true to myself and be authentically South African".
