South Africa is mourning the death of social media influencer and former “Big Brother Mzansi” contestant Rethabile “Dinkybliss” Potsane.
The news of Potsane’s death broke on social on Sunday, November 13, and was confirmed by her manager, Bukhosi Heshu-Ngcingolo.
According to Heshu-Ngcingolo, the 29-year-old died at Hillbrow Clinic on Sunday morning.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Rethabile Potsane, also known as Dinkybliss, has passed away in the early hours of of today (Sunday) at Hillbrow Clinic,” the manager said.
The cause of her death is yet to be announced.
The family requested privacy during their time of mourning.
Shirley Adonisi, director of M-Net local entertainment channels, also confirmed Potsane’s death.
“Mzansi Magic is saddened to hear of the passing of one of the ‘Big Brother Mzansi’ season 3 contestants, Rethabile ‘Dinkybliss’ Potsane,” said Adonisi.
“Dinkybliss captured the hearts of many South Africans with her outgoing and vibrant personality on the show that solidified her standing as a mover and shaker.”
On her social media biography, Potsane described herself as “pretty, loud, proud, bold and a foodie”.
Potsane was also a fashionista of note.
“She enjoys socialising and vibing. She shoots straight from the hip and says she’s constantly evolving and learning,” read her bio on the Mzansi Magic website.
“Apart from partying, she keeps fit by playing hockey.”
A fan favourite, Potsane’s eviction from the Big Brother house earlier in the year caused a stir, with fans complaining that she deserved to stay longer because she was more entertaining than other housemates.
After her eviction, Potsane was seen tweaking as she left.

Since the news of her death broke, tributes have been pouring in on social media.
