Actress and brand ambassador, Nomzamo Mbatha officially graduated on Tuesday from the University of Cape Town with a BCom degree in Accounting.

Just moments before her big day, the Isibaya star shared an emotional video showing the dress to her family, with the caption, she wrote: “Today is the third. Carla died on the third. My dress has the pictures of those I have buried, those who held my heart. To Courage. To Resilience. Overcome.

The white and black dress was printed with pictures of all those she “buried and those who held her heart”, including her sister, Carla who died in 2014.

During the graduation ceremony, Nomzamo in seen walking to the stage to collect her degree, she then took a moment to pay tribute to the struggle veteran Nomzamo Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, who passed on Monday. @NomzamoMbatha

In a recent interview with

, Nomzamo said the day "holds true significance" in her life and insisted that the milestone is not only her dream come true, but that of her 'late father".

"I view it as a commencement to my ongoing journey, to not only effect change for myself and family but the larger community. Education was not only my dream but also that of my late father. I will probably weep on that stage because finally, I will summit my mountain. It has taken me so many years to get to this point and obtaining it on the 3rd which is a day that holds true significance in my life, is surreal."
