It looks like perks of being a celeb haven't reached Skolopad yet with the singer having to fork out her own moola at this year's Vodacom Durban July.

While Zodwa Wabantu's star has only risen, going from not being allowed into a VIP marquee last year to performing at two marquees for the upcoming festivities.

The same can't be said for her arch-rival Skolopad. The singer hasn't been offered any comps with regards to accommodation, flights or dresses and is paying out of pocket to attend the trendy horse racing event.

Speaking to TsishaLIVE, Skolopad said that she is reconsidering this whole 'party like celeb' experience since it's getting expensive for her.

Furthermore, she thought that because of her "celeb" status that she would be getting everything for free. Unfortunately, that's not how the cookie crumbled with Skolopad explaining that the hotel she wanted to stay at hiked up their price once they realised that she is a celebrity.

Apparently, she enquired to an unnamed hotel for a booking in Durban under her real name with the initial price being R850. However, she claims when they found out who she was the price was hiked up to R1500.

The initial price was already a bit too steep for her and she decided to rather stay with a friend over the weekend.

She also states that she will be wearing a normal 'R5' dress and will not be bringing a shocking moment to the red carpet this year.

"Being Skolopad is expensive but it should be cheaper because my appearance increases their publicity. I think other people are paid or even sponsored to give them that kind of publicity. So this year, I'm going as a normal person in my R5 dress. I'm tired of being used."
