Never one to not impart knowledge on his fans, 'Idols SA' judge Somizi gave an eloquent lesson on gender roles after a fan asked who the woman in the relationship is.

Since Somgaga announced his engagement to Mohale Tebogo in March of this year, the entertainer has been dealing both the good and bad side of being in the public eye.

While most of his fans congratulated him on his pending nuptials, he has had to deal with homophobic comments on social media.

Somizi, who usually ignores the haters, felt the need to reply after a fan messaged him, allegedly asking on behalf of his grandmother, how the gender roles worked in his relationship, reports TshisaLive.

"Kodwa somG ngcela ungsize laa (Somizi please help me here) my grandmother is a huge fan of you and your bae kodwa haai sengkathele umbuzo wakho (but I'm tired of her question). Please help me. She asks, and I quote; 'manje uban umfazi kulothando luka somizi noMohale, ungbuzele lapho kulezinto zenu' (Who's the woman in the relationship between you and Mohale) So please, before lombuzo ungipathisa idwaang (before this question drives me crazy), please answer."

The TV personality then replied: "Shemm I sense the question comes from a good place. Tell Gogo ukuphi akekho umfazi(there is no woman) we are both men who are in love. We are not playing roles. We are born gay. It’s not an act. It’s who we are. Send my love."

Hopefully, Somizi's explanation as to why heteronormative gender roles are not applicable in queer/homosexual relationships will help educate people who are not part of the LGBTQI+ community, and break stigmas attached to same-sex relationships.
