From September Wonder Buhle Mbambo will be the Mzansi artist in residence at The Art House in Wakefield in the United Kingdom.

He was selected for this two-month residency by The Art House as well as the Royal Overseas League and a host of artistic directors and curators.

A press release says: “The aim of this residency is to give young artists an opportunity to explore their concepts in a different environment and get them to participate in various art workshops, presentations in creating a broader discourse about their respective works.”

Wonder, who has a solo exhibition on at the Durban Art Gallery, is excited about the residency.

He says he is "a South African artist who recently opened his very first solo exhibition at Durban Art Gallery titled ‘Ukumisa Insika’ - which was reflecting more on my personal journey of where I come from and also what my position in the contemporary society as the youth of today is. So as I once said ‘Ukumisa Insika’ is a journey towards a bigger dream. The journey is still on as I take off to UK.”

Wonder will also be a part of the Fritz Art Fair in London as well as the Art Booth in Manchester.
