After almost a decade of marriage, musician Zwai Bala and his broadcaster wife Mel have confirmed that they are getting divorced.
There have been recent reports in the media speculating that the celebrity couple have been having marital issues.
The Zwai and Mel, who wed in 2008 and share two children, shared a joint statement on social media on Saturday confirming that that have separated and divorce proceedings are
underway.
"There has been increasing media speculation around the state of our marriage and we feel it's important that the story is told by us. We confirm that we are separated and divorce proceedings are underway," the pair said in their statement.
The pair said it was a mutual decision and added that the statement would be their only comment on the "private matter".
