London - Lindsay Lohan has pleaded “not guilty” in court about lying to police.

The Liz & Dick star - who is possibly facing up to eight months in jail after her probation was revoked last month because she allegedly lied to police about being behind the wheel of her car during an accident last June - has been told she must personally appear in court on January 30 after her long-term lawyer Shawn Holley turned up to represent her at a hearing on Tuesday and registered a “not guilty” plea on her behalf relating to her three misdemeanour charges despite being fired on Monday.

The 26-year-old troubled starlet signed a termination letter that was then sent to Shawn by her new lawyer Mark Heller, who did not appear at her arraignment on Tuesday morning.

But according to gossip website TMZ.com, Shawn said she still technically represents the actress for the moment as she hasn't formally been removed from the case by the judge, which stopped the judge from issuing a bench warrant for her arrest.

Sources revealed that Lindsay told Shawn that she was cancelling her termination on Monday and allegedly ordered her new New York lawyer Mark to send her a letter to confirm this but it never arrived.

However, insiders connected to her lawyer said he has been calling everyone involved in the case to inform them he is Lindsay's lawyer.

In order to clear up the confusion, she must now appear in court to confirm who is representing her.

Other sources claimed that Lindsay will only be able to avoid jail time by accepting a plea deal, which would see her go to rehab for six months and Shawn had originally planned to negotiate this deal in a Los Angeles court this week. - Bang Showbiz
