The 5 minute interview with Camilla Waldman

When not working I am

… running to fetch my son, Hector, from school, or getting him to engagements, shopping for dinner, watering my garden, going to the dump, recycling, organising, emailing, admin, trying to squeeze in some gym, a moment's yoga, walking my dogs, finding an evening with my hubby … man, life is busy. I obviously like it that way.

My secret passion is

… dancing. I love nightclubs and getting down.

My most embarrassing moment was when

… I forgot someone's name and I knew them quite well.

If I ever met a prominent politician I'd say

… "Please can we find a way to look after our children? Inspire this nation, lead by example."

The best thing about SA is

… the people. We have an incredible nation. I am touched every day by South Africans who in the midst of very difficult times - fear, poverty, misunderstanding - continue to shine their light.

The worst thing about being me is

… my earnestness. I take everything so seriously. I don't laugh at myself, or at life very much.

If I weren't me, I'd be

… I am me and trying to understand what that's all about, trying to be the best Camilla I can be.

A common misconception about me is

… that I am Anne de Villiers 24/7.

A phrase I use too often is

… Sorry I'm late.

Do you enjoy playing villain Anne?

I don't see Anne as a villain - no one is ever only one thing. I find her challenging as a character. I have to look through her layers, find what drives her, what gets her through her nights.

I'm terrible when it comes

… telling my left from my right. I'm geographically challenged. Don't ask me for directions quickly.

My philosophy is

… What you are is God's gift to you, what you become is your gift to God (not my words).
