Danny DeVito is a “party animal”.

The 68-year-old actor has revealed that he still likes to let loose despite his age, although he doesn't party as hard as he did when he was younger.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz during a media trip to London, he revealed: “I like to party, yeah. I'm a party animal!”

However, Danny then conceded: “I'm not a party animal - that's not true. That's saying too much. But I like to do Qi Gong [a form of yoga], and I like to eat well, and I like to drink.”

The 'Twins' actor's idea of a good time today is a far cry from his younger days, however, as the star revealed that he and celebrity pals - including John Belusci, Robin Williams, Christopher Lloyd and Andy Kaufman - would throw drug-fuelled parties at his home when he made hit sitcom, 'Taxi', in the 1970s and '80s.

He said: “[We would] shoot the show from seven to about 10 and then go party like an animal. People used to come to our show - Belusci used to come, Penny Marshall, and all the people from the lot.

“Robin Williams [came] once he started 'Mork & Mindy'. They would all come and hang out in the booth and then we'd get mad crazy after the show. Sunday would roll around and you were just blitzed from Friday night. Sunday, you just had to recover.

“I [would] invite everybody over the house for drinks and we're all feeling good because the show's doing well. Sitting on the couch, on one end is Chris Lloyd and the other is Andy [Kaufman]. Belusci's there. Robin was there. People were talking. Drugs all over the place. It's crazy. It was wonderful.”

Danny then sarcastically quipped: “Serious drugs - like marijuana. Nothing bad.”

“We weren't drinking much. We were doing a lot of [snorting]. The Kleenex bill was high, let's put it that way.”

Reruns of Danny's hit '70s sitcom 'Taxi' air weekdays at 6.30pm on CBS Drama (Sky 149, Virgin 197, Freesat 134). - BANG Showbiz
