Rapper Emtee made headlines this past weekend after a video of him performing went viral for all the wrong reasons.

While on stage in Limpopo, Emtee appeared to be intoxicated when he collapsed during his performance.

The 'Roll Up' hitmaker  has now hit back at critics, saying he was not intoxicated, but rather tired.

Speaking to ZAlebs, Emtee said:  “I just fell, I don’t really know what made me fall, I just fell, and people around me came worried thinking that maybe something is wrong like no, I just fell and the show went on.." he explained.

"I was probably tired or something but I wasn’t intoxicated with anything, it's not a case of me being high or not, and if someone says I was high, drunk or whatever, how do they know that when they were not there?"

Following Emtee's on-stage drama, local celebrities like Lerato Kganyago pleaded with Emtee to seek help. Responding to some of Emtee's fans on her Twitter timeline, Lerato said that an artist's management team should be like their second family and help care for them.

"I’m more worried about his management team letting him go on stage in that state."

She said they are hired to ensure that the artist is okay, which Emtee's team was failing to do in her opinion. "That’s really sad if that’s the case. Your management team should be your second family, their first priority is to protect you, all the time! But hey..."

That’s the responsibility of a management team. You are spot on. As much as he’s a grown man, that team was hired to take care of him and they’ve failed dismally. https://t.co/DPE2hWGPpv

Emtee is signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment, when contacted for comment, their phone rang unanswered.
