Producers of  the popular soapie 'Generations —The Legacy' are reportedly set to meet with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) following recent complaints received for explicit content shown on the soapie.

The soapie made headlines on Friday after an episode aired of two characters engaged in bedroom foreplay.

Following complaints made to the BCCSA, the SABC 1 made a decision on Friday to pull 'Generations —The Legacy' Omnibus, scheduled for broadcast on Saturday, 22 July, and opted to air the soapies first five episodes instead.

South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said a complaint was received by the public broadcaster, which prompted the cancellation of the scheduled screening of the soapie.

"The channel will replace this week’s episodes by airing the first five episodes of 'Generations – The Legacy' that first went to air on the 1st  till the  of 5th December 2014, from 11h00 – 13h30," Kganyago said in a statement.

"We would like to assure our viewers that we take their feedback seriously and would like to apologise for any inconvenience or discomfort this week’s episodes may have caused."

Speaking to TshishaLive, Kganyago added that the complaints were noted and said it would be meeting producers and the BCCSA to discuss the offending storyline.

"We have noted the complaints that were laid with both us and the BCCSA. We decided to not air the episodes from last week because some of them were the episodes which we received the complaints about and we wanted to show that we take those complaints seriously," said Kganyago.

"Naturally we are concerned by the complaints but we will engage with the BCCSA to understand the complaints and also with the producers to understand the reasons for the storyline. We want to get the whole picture before we make any decisions about the show.

He said that while discussions were underway, the show would continue "as normal".

"We won't be cancelling Generations. It will resume as normal until we have made a decision," he added.
