Generations: The Legacy actress Thando Thabethe lashed out at fans who claim the soapie is not “educational”.

The new, revamped, soap opera has been particularly bold in recent wakes, with controversial storylines that have become hot discussion topics.

Viewers were shocked when Karabo Moroka (played by Connie Ferguson) announced that she planned to take a second husband. And now Tshidi (played by Letoya Makhene) and Gadaffi (Vuyo Dabula) are hoping to escape the wrath of their ancestors by sleeping with a snake in their bed. Meanwhile, Wandile Radebe (Chi Mhende) is a woman acting as a man.

But as the saying goes, you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Step forward one disgruntled Generations watcher who, in a letter directed to the soapie’s producer Mfundi Vundla, claimed the show wasn’t “educational” and was obsessed with issues like “gangsterism, fornication and witchcraft”.

The letter provoked a furious response from Thabethe.

“..what did Bold and the beautiful teach u?! All those saying sies to The Wandile story line, this is a reality...perhaps it touched a nerve!,” she tweeted.

“Always going on about "what is generations teaching us"! That's your teachers & parents duty not a soapies' ...”

Class dismissed.
