Mzansi Magic’s reality television and singing competition #IdolsSA , brought the fighting spirit out of the girls last night.

It  was the last round of theatre week, before contestants get a chance to be judged by the country.

There are 29 contestants remaining, with 20 girls and only 9 boys. Guys seemed to be lacking in many aspects, with the people’s favourite, Ofentse Motale forgetting his lyrics and Diego who couldn’t even sing one line. However, Lindo, Christo and other few guys did represent the male contingent very well.

The girls started on a high note, with Gugu Zulu who sang Lira’s 'Ngiyazifela', managing to impress both the audience and the judges .

“Your performance had power, confidence, oomph and sexiness” says Unathi Msengana.

Msengana also reflected as to whether there would be enough guys to make it an even split with the girls for the Top 16.

The solo performances are normally the toughest round for most contenders but the girls took the lead.

“I am glad to see you didn’t let me down” says Randall whilst complimenting Phindy.

The last performer was Tee , who sang Jill Scott’s “A long walk.” Somizi jumped to his feet along with the rest of the theatre.

It is now up to the judges to decide who stays and who goes.
