Kourtney Kardashian decided to share the video of her giving birth because she wanted her fans to see what a "beautiful" experience it was.

The reality TV star welcomed daughter Penelope Scotland into the world in July and partner Scott Disick filmed the birth, which was later seen on the family's reality TV show 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' after Kourtney had given it her approval.

Speaking of her decision to air the experience, Kourtney - who also allowed the footage of her two-year-old son, Mason, being born to be aired - said: "It was our home video, which Scott filmed. I didn't have camera men and lighting guys in there with microphones on. It was just a private moment that, both times, I watched first before deciding to show it. But I actually loved sharing that experience because it doesn't have to be squeamish like you see in the movies. I was terrified the first time before giving birth because of seeing all the movies - it looked like torture. And I thought my experience was beautiful and wanted to share that with people."

The Kardashians show a lot of their family life on their reality shows but they insist there are some moments they like to keep private.

Sister Kim - who is dating Kanye West - added to British TV show 'Lorraine': "We don't have the cameras with us the whole time. When you have holidays and that alone time, you want that to be private. We struggle with it sometimes, knowing what our boundaries are."

Kim and Kourtney are currently in the UK for the launch of their new Kardashian Kollection clothing range for British high street store Dorothy Perkins.
