Legendary South African actress Connie Chiume has confirmed that she will be starring in the upcoming Marvel superhero movie, Black Panther. Black Panther is the most anticipated movie of 2018 and stars Lupita Nyong'o, Angela Basset and Forest Whitaker.
Speaking to IOL, Chiume, who is best known for her work on Rhythm City and Zone 14, said that she was excited to be attending the premiere of the movie later in February in Los Angeles. "I play the mining elder in the movie, I auditioned for it right here in South Africa actually but the entire movie was shot in Atlanta in the USA so that's where all the fun happened," she said.
Chiume said that she got to interact with all her co-stars, including Michael B Jordan, Chardwick Boseman and Oscar winners, Lupita Nyong'o and Forest Whitaker.
"I am very excited to be apart of this be production, it truly has been an inspiration working with such big stars and being directed by a young and talented man like Ryan Coogler."
She also said that she was proud to be 1 of 3 South Africans cast in the movie. "I am extremely proud, working with John Kani and his son Atandwa was great and for us to represent Africa like this is amazing," Chiume said.

Black Panther releases in South Africa on 16 February.
