DURBAN - The IFP has called on communities across the province to remain vigilant as the heavy rains continued to batter parts of the province yesterday afternoon.

IFP President Velenkosini Hlabisa expressed the party’s concern about the plight of communities that had been affected by the rains, noting that the province was still reeling from floods experienced last month.

He called on communities to remain vigilant and united during the difficult period.

“As we stand together to face these storms, we would like to remind our communities that we are stronger together, and call on neighbours to support each other, and help where they can. We would further like to encourage all first responders to be readily available to assist. As ever, we recognise and thank them for their lifesaving service and dedication to the people of KZN, the IFP president continued.

He noted that the rains were not abating, and expressed the party’s thoughts and prayers for the affected communities.

“As the IFP, we would like to assure communities across KZN that as servants of the people, our leadership and members will be on the ground to offer practical support, wherever possible in the days to come,” Hlabisa concluded.

The IFP has in the past visited a number of affected communities to hand out items as part of the relief effort.
