An interesting take on love is set for release on Valentine’s Day in the form of the romcom Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story. Chaya Unnikrishnan of the Daily News and Analysis and Sunny Malik of Bolly Spice report…

HAVING made her debut opposite Emraan Hashmi in Crook, Neha Sharma co-starred with Riteish Deshmukh in Kya Super Kool Hai Hum and will now be seen in the romcom Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story opposite Vivek Oberoi.

Sharma describes her character as an independent and outgoing small-town girl who goes to Mumbai to make it big and lands up staying next to a gangster (Oberoi). “Both of us are from completely different backgrounds. While I am an IT graduate, he is uneducated and, despite not wanting to, they fall in love. It’s a simple, fun film,” she said.

Meanwhile Bolly Spice’s Sunny Malik reports that, after playing infamous gangster characters such as Chandu Nagre (Company) and Maya Dolas (Shootout At Lokhandwala), Oberoi returns to familiar territory, essaying the role with a twist in Ramesh Taurani’s Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story.

Talking about what makes this “bhai” (Mumbai slang for gangster) different from the rest, Oberoi said: “Jayanta is basically the wrong bhai in the right place. While he fancies himself as a serious bhai and is good at what-ever he does, he is also fun-loving and good-natured. He is naive and this creates problems.”

Commenting on his preparation for the role, Oberoi said: “I wanted to surprise myself and the audience, with all that you can do with a bhai character. Jayanta is very vulnerable and emotional. He’s very real, that’s what makes him endearing.”

Interestingly, Kiran Kotrial, who scripted the production, calls Jayanta’s character a mix of what happens when Company’s Chandu meets Aditya of Saathiya.

“The kind of character Jayanta is and the way he speaks, only someone born and bred in Mumbai can enact perfectly. We’ve seen both aspects of Vivek as an actor. When you merge the two, you get an interesting combination,” said Kotrial.

Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story opens on Thursday.

According to the film’s synopsis, the story follows Jayantabhai, a street-thug, who unexpectedly falls in love with his worst enemy, played by Sharma. It is a romance caper about how people fall in love with people they least expect to. – bollywoodhungama.com, dnaindia.com, bollyspice.com, and urbandictionary.com
