Jared Leto won the best supporting actor Oscar on Sunday for his portrayal of a transgender woman suffering from Aids in Dallas Buyers Club.

Leto, who had been the clear favourite, beat fellow nominees Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Bradley Cooper (American Hustle), Michael Fassbender (12 Years A Slave) and Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street). - Sapa-AFP
