New York - The Avengers held its top slot at the North American box office over the weekend for a second week, studio estimates showed on Sunday.

The team of superheroes slew its challengers at cinemas, taking in $103.2-million, leaving other films in the dust and increasing its total take to $373-million.

Johnny Depp's vampire comedy Dark Shadows opened in a distant second with $28.8-million in ticket sales.

The rest of the field was even further behind. The romantic comedy Think Like A Man brought in $6.3-million, followed by The Hunger Games at $4.4-million in its eighth week on screen. The romance The Lucky One raked in $4.1-million. - Sapa-dpa
