Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa shared the news that the Solomon Mahlangu film will be released on 10 march 2017. He shared the news via Twitter on Thursday, confirming the date for the highly anticipated movie titled 'Kalushi'.

The film reportedly took amateur film-maker, Mandla Dube, almost nine years to make. It boasts an impressive cast including stars such as Jafta Mamabolo and Thabo Malema whom Rametsi had nothing but praises for. He also gushed about his co-star, Pearl Thusi who plays the role of Mahlangu's girlfriend.

Kalushi tells the tale of Umkhonto we Sizwe cadre, Solomon Mahlangu, who was charged with murder and terrorism in 1977. He was subsequently executed by hanging in 1979. As many of the apartheid atrocities did, his execution sparked international protests and condemnation of South Africa’s then internal policy.

"You guys are going to see Pearl Thusi in a way that you have never seen her before. I think she's not an 'It Girl' anymore, you guys can drop that tag from her. She's an artist. Whatever you guys think of her, she's going to have longevity in this industry," Rametsi said in an interview with Sowetan.
