Young rising Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan can be seen in their new movie together, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, which opened at Suncoast cinemas on Friday. OneIndia.in reports…

ACTOR Varun Dhawan, who has a huge female fan following, says he’s single and has no plans to enter the world of dating any time soon.

“I am very much single and I don’t have any girlfriend. I am not dating anyone right now (as) there is no time at the moment,” Varun said.

Although the young and dashing actor has denied being in a relationship, rumour has it that he is dating a girl named Natasha.

Asked about this, he said: “People have made these (reports) up, obviously. I have a lot of friends who are girls… but as far as any romantic liaison is concerned, I genuinely don’t have the time right now.”

Varun, son of film-maker David Dhawan, began his acting career with Student Of The Year in 2012, following which he was seen in Main Tera Hero, directed by his father. He can now be seen in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania starring alongside Alia Bhatt.

After proving herself as an actor in Highway, Alia wants her future film choices to be equally brave and varied.

Alia, the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt, also had a tailor-made entry into Bollywood with Karan Johar’s hit Student of the Year. The 21-year-old impressed critics in her subsequent outings in Highway and 2 States.

The actress says the pressure has increased now that she has three films behind her, but that this will not influence her film choices.

“The pressure is always there. But I know that I want to do good films. I want to stand out with all my characters and I want to give the audience as much variety as possible.”

Alia and Student of the Year co-star Varun have been teamed for a second time for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

Alia says their chemistry will look good because they were more comfortable with the camera this time.

“It is also good because of the characters we are playing. I think we were not as nervous and as confused about what we were supposed to do in front of the camera. It became organic.”

After crooning for Sooha Saha in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway, Alia took to the mic again to sing Rahet Fatah Ali Khan’s Samjhawan in an unplugged version. The self-confessed bathroom singer was not afraid to tackle the popular number.

“I was not scared because I am not a professional singer. I knew that if I messed up I would not get as much flak.

“I love to sing. It gives me a certain sense of peace. I am not singing to impress anybody and I am very proud and happy that I got an opportunity to sing this song.”

Alia said she wanted to explore singing further.

“I was advised by (famous composer) AR Rahman to take my singing seriously and I am thinking about it.”

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania has been directed by debutant Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. It is a fun, warm and crazy love story.

Unlike his name, Humpty – played by Varun – is fit, fun and carefree. A middle-class Delhi boy, he is a jugadoo (innocent con), but with a heart.

He has no ambition and no expectations from life. He is happy to help his father in their university book store and go drinking with his two best friends.

But just like his namesake, he falls – he falls in love. He wears his heart on his sleeve and tackles all obstacles with a warm smile and happy heart.

Alia’s character, Kavya Pratap Singh is from small-town India, but has a contemporary attitude. She is ethnic yet fashionable, cautious yet outgoing. If she wants something, she will go for it.

She also has a heart of gold and reaches out to every friend in need.

She agrees to marry the boy her father selects, but when love happens she follows her heart. She has the courage to challenge her father and the warmth to care for him. Kavya is truly lovable.

When Kavya decides to make a trip to Delhi to shop for her wedding, she meets the young and carefree Humpty Sharma.

Kavya is initially unattainable to Humpty, making her even more appealing to him.

But being a Delhi boy, he is not one to give up easily.

With help from his two best friends, he finds out all about her and through an interesting turn of events they start growing closer to each other. – oneindia.in
