DURBAN is headed for an Indian entertainment extravaganza, with the Royal Security My Fairy Tale Wedding Showcase Week beginning on Valentine’s Day.

Although primarily a wedding exhibition, event organisers Imagination Unlimited have put together an internationally star-studded entertainment menu to tantalise Bolly tastebuds.

As part of the entertainment build-up for the showcase, in association with Diamond Fascination and DStv, Imagination Unlimited has secured a cast of dancers from Film City in Bollywood for performances, bringing the best of live Bollywood performers to our shores.

The wedding showcase week opens on Valentine’s Day with a three-course dinner and dance extravaganza, featuring a special appearance and dance performances by Zee TV heart-throb Rithvik Dhanjani (who plays Arjun in Pavitha Rishtha).

In a statement, showcase director – and radio actress, performer and entrepreneur – Yarisha Rajcomar-Panday said an electrifying Bollywood dance spectacular would also run from February 15 to 17, featuring the Film City Mumbai dancers and the most popular Bollywood songs.

“A creative blend of dance styles and use of props, costumes and state-of-the-art lighting, all (come) together in a mesmerising show that will leave you spellbound,” Rajcomar-Panday said.

Punting the show as a “multi-cultural wedding event”, Rajcomar-Panday said she fell in love with weddings after her own special day and wanted to produce an event that “targets our rainbow brides and has the international link and strong fashion and entertainment element”.

The showcase week includes a carnival of events, such as exhibits of wedding products and services, electrifying stage performances, a first-of-its-kind runway and interactive shows, service provider showcases, dance spectaculars, a tasting zone, wedding talk show, a grooms’ zone and much more.

The fashion shows will showcase some of South Africa’s top designers, such as Gert Johan Coetzee (who has dressed celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian and Kristin Cavilleri, David Tlale and Karen Monk-Klinjstra).

Along with them, from Mumbai, will be acclaimed international designer Rohhit Verma, who has dressed such Bollywood stars as Amitabh Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut and Sushmita Sen.

Verma has acted in the movie Fashion with Priyanka Chopra and hosts India’s version of Fashion Police.

Among other highlights in the programme is The MFW Show – a staged talk show-style bridal workshop designed to help brides with their wedding planning. Activities will include interviews with service providers, competitions, Q&As, hair trials, dress fittings etc.

Each bride will receive a bridal goodie bag and stand a chance to win great prizes.

In the tasting zone, you can sample decadent cakes and chocolates. In the grooms’ zone you will be able to have a seat in the DStv promo zone and get a chance to see the cars on display.

Admission to the exhibition and tasting and grooms’ zones are free.

Tickets for the Valentine’s Dinner Shows on Valentine’s Day are R500 a person or R1 000 a couple from Computicket.

Tickets for the Bollywood dance spectacular on February 15-17 are R80 and R120 from Computicket. – Bollyworld Reporter
