Reports stated that AKA's management informed iRock Festival organisers that the rapper and his band would arrive two hours late for his performance, and subsequently put in a request to be moved to a later slot.

It was in the same statement that Vth Season Managing Director Raphael Benza, in response to the incident, that he gave the rapper's “side of the story”.

The miscommunication between AKA’s team, festival organisers and DJ Black Coffee led to an altercation breaking out between DJ Black Coffee and AKA's road manager Tshiamo Letshwene, in which the DJ slapped Letshwene.

In a short clip of the incident, Black Coffee is seen arguing with Tshiamo before planting a hot klap on his face.

However, Sowetan LIVE reports that iRock founder and president Rito Hlungwani said there was no communication of the change in the time slot between them and AKA's camp. He told the local publication that AKA and his management “misrepresented” the contract and the schedule by ignoring their time slots.

The incident has since escalated to an exchange of threats on Twitter.

After the incident, a video was released which showed Black Coffee taking a moment out of his set to apologise.
