Have You Heard

****

Taste Them and You Are Addicted.

It is interesting that just when you think you have heard it all, a group like The Muffinz comes along and proves you wrong. They are young and they are immensely talented. They have old souls that would make Hugh Masekela and peers young all over again. It is their unpretentious nature that draws many people to them.

The title track Have You Heard is a sing-along track with heavy acoustics on clean voices. The voices get thicker on S’cela Kuwe as the sound’s pace becomes slower. If you understand what it means, Khumbul’ Ekhaya is an instant hit with anyone. It speaks of a longing for home, or that physical, spiritual or emotional place that you call home. This is a song for that long drive in the country with no city disturbances. The River is simply The Muffinz flexing their vocal muscles and showcasing their diversity. It starts off like an a capella track, but before you know it you are grooving to the bass guitar. It also comes with an unexpected ending. The subject matter in The Next Superman is something we all need to say to ourselves every now and then.

Overall, SA has just witnessed the birth of a phenomenal group. – Munyaradzi Vomo
