GIG OF THE WEEK

The Parlotones farewell tour

Izulu Theatre, Sibaya Casino |(Tonight)

The Parlotones at Izulu Theatre, Sibaya Casino.

IT’S time to bid farewell to one of South Africa’s most successful rock bands, The Parlotones, as they will be relocating to Los Angeles in the US in January.

So what better send-off is there than a tour of the country? The Farewell Tour symbolises the fans’ last chance to say goodbye before the band leaves, and it takes place at the Izulu Theatre, Sibaya Casino, tonight.

Billed as the “Creative Capital of the World” because one in every six of its residents works in a creative industry, LA, the home base of Hollywood, is more con-ducive to global touring and reaching the US market.

The state is hours away from Asia and Europe and will give them better access to the world’s biggest music market. The move will put the band in a more accessible position to the many media conferences and interviews that are demanded of a band in the US and allow them to tour relentlessly as they endeavour to cover as much ground as pos-sible, making South Africa proud with every milestone they are destined to achieve!

South African fans won’t miss out on fun either! The Parlotones will be taking their fans with them. Negotiations for their own TV show focusing on their new adven-ture are under way. To coincide with the tour The Parlotones will also be releasing the live recording of their rock theatre production Dragonflies & Astronauts, which was developed complete with storyline, sets and characters revolving around their greatest hits. They were the first band in the world to broadcast a concert live in 3D.

Known for breaking creative boundaries with their live per-formances they set a new standard in live entertainment with this innovative concert.
