GIG OF THE WEEK

Kanye West

Coca-Cola Dome (tomorrow)

Right now Kanye West fans |are addicted to his latest offering, Cruel Summer, on which his entire Good Music roster came in to help out and show why they are the best crew in the rap game right now.

Instant hits such as the classic Mercy, on which West’s verse features a sample of the film Scarface’s theme, prove that West |is a living legend.

From his time as a producer, you knew anything he touched would turn to gold. It was a pleasant surprise and refreshing |to hear his rapping when he finally came to the fore. And the game was never the same.

Coming to you tomorrow night at the Coca-Cola dome will be the soon-to-be father and rapper. A lot of people are torn between going |to the J&B Met in Cape Town and this gig. It is going to be interesting to see some of them drop their designer fashion plans to come |to the gig instead. It is, after all, Kanye West, the dude who gave us Good Life, Love Lockdown, Golddigger and Otis.

We are talking about a guy with an incredible 18 Grammys to his name, making him one of the most awarded musicians of all time. Now if you can’t say that about your favourite rapper then you have to come to the Dome tomorrow and see the master at work. There is a rumour he’ll |be bringing along another legendary rapper, but we will leave that as a surprise for those who attend.

It is unclear how many tickets are still available, but you can check with Computicket. They are going for R650 standard and R1 000 for the golden circle with limited numbers. – Munya Vomo
