Tonight attended Hip Hop artist Cassper Nyovest and AG Mobile’s new cellphone launch.

AG#Hashtag is a well specified 4G LTE mobile device that is available exclusively through MTN. It currently comes in only red and more colours will be available in the future.

The phone is inspired by Cassper, reflecting his personality and fast-paced life.

Exeutive Head of Marketing and Product for AGmobile Tayshira Santamaria said: “It is a phone meant for people who are constantly on the move,” she added.

The phone comes in a bright red colour which gives it a vibey and fresh look. It is an android phone with a Corning Gorilla 3 Glass touchscreen. A 5MP front camera and 13MP back camera with auto-focus and flash

When asked what inspired the name of the phone, Cassper said “social networks inspired me to name the phone AG#Hashtag as I am always on social networks, in fact, Twitter inspired me to name the phone”. The phone comes with an APP by Cassper Nyovest which allows him to chat to his fans anytime about his music and plans.

The phone is said to be very reasonable at the retail price of R229 on MTN’s monthly contract for 24 months or R3449 cash. “The phone competes against well known brands at a lesser price with the same specs”, said Tayshira.

AGmobile’s target is to sell more than ten thousand units a month which comes with a big incentive for Cassper. The device will be available in stores on the 10th of May. However, people are encouraged to pre-order the phone online and get a cover signed by Cassper.

”It’s sleek, beautiful and classy - just like Cassper!” said Santamaria.

And what does he think about the “haters” he attracted on social media who feel he’s been “showing off”? The question reference to selfies he has posted featuring his material possessions: the house, his Rolex and his new R3.8m Bentley.

“If you cannot appreciate a young black man driving a Bentley, then I don’t care!

He added: “I was inspired by P-Diddy, who came from an ufortunate background, who made it through music. I don’t mind being hated for that. It shows that it is possible (to reach high levels of success) - and it doesn’t matter who you are.”
