Umlazi was the place to be on Sunday evening when Hunter’s Oasis Tour hit Durban with MTV Base. Famous chisa nyama (braai) spot Max’s Lifestyle saw well over 1 000 people party up a storm to Big Nuz, Joocy, DJ Cndo, Raiko, Vigilante and king of Durban entertainment Tira.

A special spot was reserved for the Pro Twerkers and their “shakin’ jelly booties” (pictured, right). The four gals and their ample butts had the men whipping out their cameras to capture this unbelievable sight.

While not as graphic as Thebe’s dancers of the past, the Pro Twerkers manage to do things with their behinds that not many have done in the history of ample butts.

It’s an absolute delight for the men, while women in the audience stare in morbid fascination.

Only Big Nuz could follow an act like that. Playing in front of their home crowd (NUZ is the number plate for Umlazi), the big Zulu sons of Umlazi were the kings of their world.

But rather creepy was how eagerly young female fans were grabbing at the kwaito stars’ crotches. The stage was low and – literally – made for easy pickings for the girls. Perhaps a bit of hormonal crowd control next time, er, ladies?

Raging hormones aside, Big Nuz were fantastic, as usual.

Tira again rocked the crowd. Offstage Tira is unassuming and walks quickly on yet another mission. But onstage that energy morphs into a jet engine.

He becomes powerful, sexy, magnetic, fierce and even bigger than the biggest Big Nuz member.

As a DJ, he smiles his way through every song, his little body swaying to and fro in delight to the music. His energy is light, as his music enchants the masses into dancing.

Also spotted was Professor hiding under a cap at the VIP section of Max’s.

Host for the night was Thapelo Mokoena, the face of Hunter’s Dry, who did a great job with the crowd.

The next Hunter’s Oasis Tour takes place at the Village Pub and Lounge on Sunday. Get ready to party with DJ Fresh, Khuli Chana, Raiko, Shimza, Vigilante and the Pro Twerkers.

The tour then moves back to Durban for the Hunter’s Oasis Tour VIP Experience at Chris Saunders Park, Umhlanga, on March 9, before moving back to Soweto where it takes place at Thokoza Park on March 16.

MTV Base must still confirm the artists.

The tour culminates in 100 winning couples travelling to Zanzibar for a big party weekend in April, courtesy of Hunter’s.

The line-up will include South African artists, who are yet to be confirmed. They tour has been filmed and will air on MTV Base later in the year.
