Legendary jazz musician Hugh Masekela released a statement in October informing fans that he had been battling prostate cancer since 2008.

"I have cancelled my commitments for the immediate future as I will need all my energy to continue this fight against prostate cancer,” the statement read.

“This will be the only public statement I make on the matter, and I ask for privacy going forward, so that I may rest and heal."

It would be the only statement the star would make on his health status.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE this week, Hugh's manager Josh Georgiou said Hugh remains in a "good state".

"He's in a good state. He is fighting. He is doing good," said Georgiou.

Local musicians are seemingly close to Malema's heart these days, as the EFF party also offered to assist Fifi Cooper "fight back against the corrupt and exploitative record company [Ambitiouz Entertainment]".

"We have seen the injustice caused on Fifi Cooper by Ambitious Entertainment which is politically associated with the corrupt North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo.

"We have contacted Fifi with the willingness to help her fight back against the corrupt & exploitative record company!" the party wrote on its official Twitter account on Tuesday.

The 'Kuze Kuse' hitmaker released a statement that she is accepting the offer of assistance from EFF.
