'Idols SA' runner-up Mthokozisi Ndaba has been caught in a media storm following Sunday night's finale.
Ndaba failed to attend the post press conference, which usually sees both the winner and the runner-up answer questions about how they're feeling and what their career aspirations.
Ndaba also declined to interviews following the press conference and requested space as he was not coping well with losing the title to Paxton Fielies, further fueling rumours the he was a "sore loser".
However, Ndaba released a statement on Tuesday to set the record straight.
In a lengthy statement received, Ndaba explained why he did not attend the press conference after the winner's announcement and dismissed claims that he didn't congratulate Paxton.
In a video shared on his Instagram account on Sunday night, Ndaba said he thinks Paxton deserved it to win "because they all worked hard" and he is "behind her 100 percent".
He also appealed to fans to continue supporting him and Paxton "because the journey continues".
And it seems his fans are doing just that.
Both Paxton and Ndaba's first single music videos were shared on YouTube by Gallo Records on Sunday night.
To date, there's only a difference of about 4 000 views between the two, with Paxton leading with 59 400 and Ndaba's trailing at 55 500.
Ndaba's single, 'Masithandane', received positive feedback from viewers. One fan wrote: "He won from theatre week for me... Don't give up, SA music needs you."
