It was only once the concert had moved from the outside stage on a beautifully warm day to inside the Zone 6 Venue that the party really started. DJ 1D was on the decks and the venue was packed. After all, tickets had sold out before doors even opened.

But then something unexpected happened. 1D played PRO’s mammoth hit, "Soweto," and as it ended, the crowd would not let it go. They kept singing the chorus, a cappella, and the entire venue was in unison. It was definitely a goosebump moment. One of many.

Various members of South Africa’s hip-hop community banded together to give PRO a proper musical send-off since his passing earlier this month. They also decided to start an education trust for PRO’s three-year-old daughter, Nonkanyezi. All proceeds of the #DankieSanConcert held in Soweto on Sunday go towards that fund.

The likes of Zubz, Anatii, Rouge, Solo and the BETR Gang, TeePee, NVeigh and more sparked the fire on an outside stage. Later, the likes of Sjava, Kid X, Reason, Blacklez, Moozlie, Ma-E, Emtee, AKA and many others performed. Oh, and DJ Fresh played an all-hip hop set.
