There comes a time in an indie band’s existence where the prospect of what might lay out there in the world is more lucrative than what is being offered - or not - in their hometown.

Some band simply move from the place they’ve always called home to Jozi’s city lights.

But others - acts like Sannie Fox and Dear Reader - pursue international success and often find it. Medicine Boy will be following in these footsteps.

Made up of Lucy Kruger and André Leo, the band will start a nine country tour in their home turf, Cape Town, on October 26.

After that, they will settle in Berlin. At least they will have plenty of material to perform as they have just released a new album called Lower.

About it, the duo says: “Lower is a web of introspection and interpretation. There are wider themes, stranger worlds and deeper wells than before. It is our attempt to find some kind of beauty in the underworld.”
