The hip-hop fraternity is still in shock following the untimely death of the multi-award winning rapper, ProKid on Wednesday, August 8.

ProKid, real name Linda Mkhize, reportedly suffered a severe seizure while visiting friends.

On Sunday, hip-hop lovers, fans and followers of ProKid came out in numbers at Slaghuis, in Diepkloof, Soweto, to pay tribute and also help raise funds for one of the rap game’s G.O.A.T.

Slaghuis provides a platform for upcoming rappers and MCs, who come together every Sunday, doing everything hip-hop - from rap battle competitions to freestyling, spitting bars - showcasing their skills.

It is reported that ProKid and Proverb are among many hip-hop stars who were discovered at Slaghuis, hence they held the place to high esteem.

On Sunday, rap music lovers and fellow musicians Tumi Molekane aka Stogie T, DJ Milkshake, Kabomo, Amunishin, Rashid Kay, Maxhoba, Osmic Menoe took to the street of Diepkloof to pay tribute to the hip-hop pioneer.

Fellow rapper AKA took to Twitter over the weekend making a request to the Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, for ProKid to be given a state funeral "a send him off with the flying colours he deserves".

According to reports, ProKid's memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 16. He will then be laid to rest on Saturday, August 18, however, no confirmation has been received from the family.
