With the festive season drawing near, there are concerts and festivals galore.

But it’s not every day that a festival that aims to honour and give a platform to artists living with disabilities comes around. On August 31, the ArtsAbility Festival will take place at  Ekurhuleni’s Germiston Theatre.

Veteran artists such as Babsy Mlangeni as well as Steve Kekana, will perform. Kekana will even give fans a treat by performing some songs off his new album, Ubuntu, which is due for release in September.

Tell A Vision Productions’ Xolani Majozi is the organiser of the festival and he says: “The difficulties of disabled people in general are what inspired the ArtsAbility Festival.”

He also says: “Icons of our music industry have proved beyond reasonable doubt that if given a platform irrespective of your background or disability, one can reach leaps and bounds in any field.”

The stage will also be blessed by isichathamiya group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Tickets are R100 at Computicket and at the door.
