Xhosa singer-songwriter, Bongeziwe Mabandla, has been one to watch for years. He released his debut album, "Umlilo," armed with a distinctive voice and his acoustic guitar, he became a force to be reckoned with.
Then last year, he released his much-anticipated second album, "Mangaliso". Unsurprisingly, the album won Bongeziwe a South African Music Award for Best Alternative Album this year.
Following a beautiful video for "Bawo Wam" featuring Spoek Mathambo, he has released the music video for the title track.
The video sees Bongeziwe emerge as a giant in a beautiful pastoral setting. He plays the strings of a transmission tower and sits atop a bridge.
“The song and video is about experiencing something you never expected to, combined with an out-of-this-world feeling that is hard to describe,” says Bongeziwe.
“The world is the Eastern Cape, my greatest inspiration, and it’s just a simple Bongeziwe story in Bongeziwe Land.”
