After featuring Nakhane’s song on his radio show, Sir Elton John recently interviewed the South African actor and musician.
Sir Elton talks to Nakhane about growing up as a black gay man in South Africa, with Nakhane saying “as much as our constitution in South Africa is really liberal, the real world is a different place sometimes. I’ve had to kick down some doors yeah."
Nakhane also talks about his musical influences, and how Marvin Gaye’s album ‘Here, my Dear’ influenced him as a child. They both go on to talk about sitting on their bedroom floors as kids and listening to records.
