Sony Music Africa’s local division, Sounds African Recordings, decided to surprise their artist, DJ Speedsta with some great news live on national television on Friday night. To say he was shocked and elated is an understatement.

Speedsta’s song, Mayo featuring Tellaman, Yung Swiss, Frank Casino and Shane Eagle was certified double platinum. His hit, I Don’t Know featuring Zoocci Coke Dope, J. Molley and Frank Casino was certified triple platinum.
The DJ was about to wrap up his SABC 1 show, Live Amp, when his co-host, DJ Lamiez Holworthy said he couldn’t do that just yet. There was a surprise waiting for him. Speedsta was presented with the two plaqyues and could not stop smiling.
“This is the craziest surprise I’ve ever received, ever, ever in my life,” Speedsta exclaimed afterwards. “Thank you so much to the label, Sony, you guys have been really supporting me from Day one.”

Speedsta, whose real name is Lesego Nkaiseng, received the news on the day that he released his new single, Combos Communicating.
