GIG OF THE WEEK

Elan Lea

Foxwood Hotel (tomorrow)

International singer, songwriter and musician Elan Lea is back home to perform songs from his coming album, Conversations Over Time, at Foxwood House and Theatre in Houghton Estate tomorrow.

Those who are in the know will be aware that Lea is no stranger to the music industry as he released a smashing debut album, My Only Excuse, about four years ago.

The album had some tracks penned by the legendary Dianne Warren. If you are wondering who that is, Warren wrote Celine Dion’s Because You Loved Me and Aerosmith’s I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, among many other award-winning tracks.

For Warren to work with such high-profile people and then to work with our own Lea means only one thing: Lea is gifted enough to meet international standards.

“I am a balladeer so people need to expect that in my performance.

“We will strip down everything and just leave it to the guitar, the piano and a few more things,” he said.

Even though he will focus on the new material, fans of his debut CD should not fret because he will do a few tracks from that, too.

So move away from the usual ear-polluting music and enjoy Lea’s clean sound. Since he confessed that all the songs he writes are inspired by love, you need to bring your partner.

The Foxwood Hotel is at 3 Fifth Street (NOT avenue), Houghton Estate, on the Rosebank side of the M1. Entrance is R120 and the gig starts at 8pm. Contact: 011 486 0935, [email protected] or see www.foxwood.co.za
