Oktoberfest

Richard Scheepers and Yulrich Standers, both from Kuils River.

This year’s Windhoek Oktoberfest, held at the Hillcrest Quarry in Durbanville, from Friday October 20 to Sunday October 22, was a perfect combination of Namibian beer, German food, games and activities. Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer festival, celebrated annually in Munich, Germany. The festival included the opening of the keg by braumeister Christian Muller on Friday, performances by the Kirchdorfer band, Schuhplattler dancers, traditional food and games such as stamm-sagen (log-sawing), bierstemmen (beer-lifting), Hau den Lukas (high striker), nageln (nailing), and beer pong.
