Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, has gone into labour.

The 36-year-old royal - who already has son Prince George, four, and daughter Princess Charlotte, two, with husband Prince William - was admitted to hospital on Monday morning in preparation for welcoming her third child into the world.

A statement released by Kensington Palace said: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour.

"The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge."

Catherine's younger sister Pippa Middleton is also reportedly expecting her first child with husband James Matthews. According to sources, she's due in October.
