Ryan Murphy has become a father for the first time.

The Glee creator and his husband David Miller announced the birth of son Logan Phineas in an email to family and friends on Christmas Eve, with the message accompanied by a picture of the baby inside a Christmas stocking, E! News has revealed.

The announcement read: “Logan Phineas Miller Murphy, Born December 24, 2012 9:47 am.”

It went on to say Logan weighed 6lb 6oz and measured 21 inches.

Details of the little boy's birth mother have not been disclosed.

The happy news comes just a few months after Ryan revealed he was excited at the prospect of being a parent in the future.

He said: “I think I'll be incredibly fun and overwhelmed and all about manners. People always say when you have a child it brings you back to when you were a kid, and I'm excited to do that. I had a very rocky, difficult, emotional childhood with my parents.

“And then I'm excited to have somebody or something come in and say, 'Really? I don't care what you think. I'm going to do what I want.' “ - Bang Showbiz
