Despite the stormy weather in Joburg and of course Solange Knowles pulling out at the last minute, the inaugural Afropunk Festival was a huge success. There were some big name performers and some big name celebrities that attended the festival. One such celebrity was British supermodel Jourdan Dunn. The supermodel, who is a Victoria's Secret model, the face of Balmain X H&M and Maybelline, is in South Africa on holiday and rang in the new year in Cape Town and also celebrated all things African at Afropunk last week.
She did not let the rain stop her. Here is a peak into what she got up to.
After falling in love with Gqom and seeing how South African's get down, she asked a festival goer, Zuri November, for the 411 on Gqom and how to dance to it. “She is a beautiful breath of fresh air, very elegant and care free. I saw here when I went to the front of the stage, but I was confused if I really just saw the Jourdan Dunn. I went up to her and asked for a few pictures. She then asked my friend and I teach her how to dance the way we because she liked it, of course we said yes. It was amazing, I wish I could do it again”, November said.
She was seen posting images and videos of her fun night out at the festival and went live on Instagram. In one post on her Instastory, she said “I love Gqom music” with the South African flag attached to it. Earlier in the day she posted a picture of her out and about in Soweto where she did some shopping and wished her 2.2 million Instagram followers a happy new year from the luxurious 54 on Bath Hotel.
